Happy 7th birthday to us!

We can hardly believe it's been 7 years since we opened our Etsy shop with a small collection of originally designed, handmade wooden toys. We hoped that just a few people would our toys as endearing as we did, and had dreams of Smiling Tree becoming a respectable side business for us as we continued on with our day jobs.

Fast forward 7 years, 4 kids, 1 renovated wood shop, and 24,000+ Etsy sales and here we are! What a trip. Smiling Tree has grown by leaps and bounds, more than we every could have imagined during that first year when we spent winter evenings dreaming and designing on the living room floor while our first baby played alongside us.

We're so incredibly honored and grateful that our family has been able to play a small part in your family's childhood learning and memories. Smiling Tree is now our family's full time business and supports our young family of six (plus a dog and numerous cats). Your purchases also allow us to make significant donations to Peace Corps youth development projects that help to improve the lives of children around the world.
